Looking Up

Hey folks,
Things are looking up.
I am four months behind and counting in getting Acceleration out, and I'm more than sorry about that. However, certain things are coming together and my typing fingers are becoming itchy and scratchy. The work is resuming.

For anyone wondering what the hell happened, here's the long and the short of it.

A few years ago, I bought a property just around the corner from my house in Toronto. During the next 2 1/2 years I encountered anything and everything that could go wrong (really, everything.) Fighting City Hall is not a raid, it's a long drawn out siege that requires time, money, patience, fortitude. And tears. Oh, and contractors experience time in a different way, just like my MC Jess. 1 week is actually one month, 1 month is actually 3 months - extrapolate.

While this was going on I wrote The Laws of Motion, and it ended up a trilogy. I desperately needed someone, anyone, to do what I asked them to, when I asked it. I had to create fictional characters to satisfy that need, it was the only way, and Jess and Matt came about.  External Forces came out in September 2013 and my little general store, The Lucky Penny, finally opened its doors last January. Here's the before and after.

I worked furiously to get Acceleration finished, just ask Howard, my patient editor, how many times I rescheduled. But, in July, the account books at the LuckyP were not balancing no matter how many yoga poses I tried, and something had to give. Writing myself into bankruptcy was not an option, and I'm not able to write here and there, a little at a time. I'm obsessive about it, as my family can attest. Immediate and complete hiatus it was. Stopped cold.

Got The Lucky Penny on the straight and narrow-margined road, and now it's time to finish the book, which I never stopped writing and re-writing in my head. In the midst of all these shenanigans, I did manage to get a new cover for External Forces and am working on a cover for the second in the series.

Hang tight, it's coming, I feel pretty damn good about it. And, if you are in Toronto, pass by and let me buy you a coffee.
